Our client is a leading engineering company with interest in engineering, oil & gas and construction. They currently have an opening for an operations lead to be based in Abuja, Nigeria.

As the Operations lead, you oversee all operational activities, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Your role involves managing office operations, coordinating remote teams, and providing strategic direction. With a proactive mindset and attention to detail, you drive operational efficiency and foster a collaborative organizational culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION:
Employee Management for Efficiency and Productivity:
  • Lead and oversee a diverse team of employees, including project managers, engineers, and support staff, ensuring high levels of performance, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities to enhance employee skills, competencies, and job satisfaction.
Strategic Operational Management:
  • Develop and implement strategic plans, policies, and procedures to optimize operational efficiency, resource utilization, and project delivery outcomes.
  • Oversee all operational activities, including project planning, execution, procurement, quality control, and risk management, aligning efforts with project milestones, budgets, and client expectations.
Resource Allocation and Optimization:
  • Effectively allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, materials, and subcontractors, to support project requirements and maximize operational productivity.
  • Implement resource optimization strategies to minimize costs, reduce waste, and enhance profitability while maintaining rigorous standards of quality and safety.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
  • Establish and enforce rigorous quality control processes, safety protocols, and regulatory
  • compliance measures to ensure adherence to industry standards, specifications, and legal requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits, inspections, and assessments to identify areas for improvement, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous quality enhancement initiatives.
Stakeholder Management and Communication:
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the organization, clients, consultants, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders, cultivating positive relationships, resolving conflicts, and addressing concerns.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, providing timely updates, progress reports, and performance metrics to ensure transparency and alignment of expectations.
Strategic Planning and Business Development:
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and execute strategic plans, business objectives, and growth initiatives aimed at expanding market presence, increasing revenue, and driving organizational success.
  • Identify emerging market trends, opportunities, and client needs to inform business development strategies, marketing initiatives, and long-term business planning efforts.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics, and reporting mechanisms to monitor operational performance, track progress, and evaluate the effectiveness of operational strategies and initiatives.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, analyses, and presentations for executive leadership, board of directors, and stakeholders, providing actionable insights, recommendations, and strategic guidance.

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field (master’s degree preferred).
2. Proven experience (4-5 years) in a senior operations management role within the engineering and construction industry, demonstrating a track record of successful project delivery, team leadership, and operational excellence.
3. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and empower cross-functional teams to achieve common goals and objectives.
4. Deep knowledge of engineering and construction principles, methodologies, and best practices, with a focus on quality assurance, safety, and regulatory compliance.
5. Proficiency in project management software, construction management tools, and industry-specific technologies.
6. Strategic thinker with analytical prowess, problem-solving abilities, and decision-making skills to drive organizational growth, innovation, and continuous improvement.
