Hip Replacement

Hip replacement

Hip replacement surgery is a procedure in which a doctor removes a hip joint and replaces it with an artificial joint generally made from metal and a component of plastic known as prosthesis. Usually , hip replacement surgery is the last option and is done when all other treatment options have failed. This surgery helps a patient get back to leading his/her normal life by relieving the immense pain and increasing mobility.

The traditional method of this surgery was to make a single large opening in a person's body and implant the metal equipment. However, advances in medical science have lead to a

new procedure being used, wherein the metal joint is implanted only by making one or two short incisions in a patient's body.

Hip replacement surgery in India

Compared to other parts of the world, the hip replacement surgery in India is pretty inexpensive, with our doctors having the same expertise and the success rate as in western countries. This has resulted in people from many countries, including the developed ones, coming to India for getting a hip replacement surgery done, in what is generally termed as medical tourism. This is only expected to grow with time.
