Safari Books Ltd. was registered in 1991 to serve the libraries with books and journals, in addition to offering publishing services, consultancy and special publishing. The first major breakthrough was the World Bank Book and Journals contract which we handled together with Blackwell of Oxford supplying the 23 Federal Universities over a period of 2 years. Today we are one of the major library suppliers representing Swets Information Services Lisse The Netherlands, who are the largest academic journal suppliers in the world.

Mallory was established in 1984 as a textbook supplier and consolidator, mostly into Africa. It brought educational and teaching skills to the business of book supply, and these skills remain one of the company’s greatest strengths.
But added to them now is a range of other capabilities - in complex documentation, in matching the service exactly to customer requirements, in the processing and sorting of large shipments. We are particularly effective at handling supply to tight time scales, at quality control, and at sorting by destination or into packs.
Mallory is focused less on regular small scale supply than on special projects requiring particular skills and personal attention - the establishment of a new resource centre, say, or the fulfillment of a special one-off requirement, or an urgent delivery.
We have local representation in many countries, and we pay particular attention to the details of supply and to reliability of local delivery. Born in Amsterdam on the 31st of March 1930, he was the founding Managing Director of Evans Brothers in 1967.In 1978 he established Spectrum Books Ltd. Married with 4 sons and a daughter and eight grandchildren, presently living with his adopted son George Berkhout. He retired as Chairman Spectrum Books in September 2008 and now running Safari Books Ltd. which was established in 1991. Chief Joop Berkhout has many publications to his credit and also promoted the Nigerian educational sectors and for his contribution he was awarded a national honour “Officer of the Order of the Niger” O.O.N. He trained several publishers who are doing well in publishing industry. Chief Joop Berkhout is regarded as the doyen in the publishing world and gave publishing entirely new direction in Nigeria.




George Berkhout

George Berkhout is the Executive Director of Safari Books Ltd. and Vice - President of Junior Chambers International JCI. He studied Public Administration and has a certificate in Advance writing and Reporting Skills A.W.A.R.E.S. Pan African University; He has attended a number of senior management and professional courses. Currently doing a MBA management Course in University of Liverpool. Young, dynamic, versatile, he is the new digital generation and face and future of Nigeria and beyond.

Mr. Adesina Olufemi Adegunle (FCTI) is a Chartered Tax Practitioner and Chartered Accountant with over 20 years’ experience in Financial and General Management. 1986 graduate of Accountancy from The Polytechnic Ibadan, and obtained a Master’s degree In Personnel Psychology from the University of Ibadan in 1996. He worked as General Manager at Paragon Investments Limited and as Accountant at Spectrum Books Limited. He retired as Finance Officer in October 2006 from the United Nations Children Fund Nigeria. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and also a Fellow of the Institute of Management of Nigeria. He is the Vice-Chairman General Data Engineering Services PLC, Executive Director of Princeton Health Ltd (HMO), Chairman-Deguards Security Services, Managing Partner of Errands Associates, Chairman of Errands Integrated Services Ltd, Chairman-Driversplus Nigeria Ltd, Founder-Nextgeneration Foundation, Director of Sandlake Pharmacy Inc.USA and Director of Reality Investment Inc.
