Due to the growing pro-industry policies of the African nations, the Assudamal group recognized the importance of developing its own manufacturing division within the continent. To meet this need, A&P Foods began manufacturing biscuits in 2002 operating from Ikeja, Lagos. Research of the biscuit industry at the time revealed that the market was awash with poor quality biscuits. The group saw the possibility of producing better products and ran with it.
