Company description
The Edirin Sokoh Centre for Special education and Skills Development was conceived out of a deep and personal concern of its founder for the lack of amenities to cater for the children with special needs especially those with autistic problem in a society that consciously or unconsciously stigmatizes the condition of such children out of ignorance thereby worsening their plight. The personal experience of the founder was that of a male child who due to inappropriate care, was diagnosed at the age of 7, as having the IQ of a 9 months old baby due to autism.

It was the journeys of the founder in search of treatment for her son that enlightened her on the possibilities and that her son’s condition and that of other children with similar limiting health conditions can largely be
Show more managed if some special attention is given them.

Thus the centre was conceived to serve as a special education and skills development centre that will cater for the special needs of challenged children, especially autistic children giving them opportunity to live as their peers. It is the founder’s and Board’s belief that:

•All children can attain the highest possible academic achievement when trained in a conducive environment that aims to identify and strengthen each student's weakness.
•Early diagnosis of learning problems with appropriately successful interventions will create the highest level of success for all students.
•Excellence in learning and teaching occurs only when high academic expectations are upheld for all students and teachers.
•All students benefit from a comprehensive education program that include arts, health, and physical education.
•Teachers must be supported by a strong staff development program and recognized for excellent performance.
•Love and care for the special needs children is central to their development
